The data sharing feature automatically shares non-financial data (such as a client's name, address, and TIN) among all clients, and K-1 financial data among all 1040, 1041, 1065, and 1120 clients. (Note that financial data can be transferred into 1120C and 1065-B clients, but it cannot be transferred out of these clients.) Data sharing also enables client notes to be shared between UltraTax CS, Fixed Assets CS, FileCabinet CS, and Practice CS if licensed for these applications. General and financial data can be shared within a family unit for Form 8615 (the "Kiddie Tax") purposes. General and financial data is also shared between corporate members of a controlled group.
The data sharing feature also enables you to share basic client information between Accounting CS, UltraTax CS federal applications, and Practice CS. In addition, Accounting CS will share most W-2, 1099-R, 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, and 1095-C financial data with UltraTax/1040.
Sharing general data
General data is automatically shared among all UltraTax CS clients, as well as between Accounting CS and Practice CS. General data includes a client's name, address, phone number, TIN, SSN, and so on. View examples. If you are licensed for Onvio and have marked the Enable data sharing checkbox on the Settings dialog in Onvio Link, you can share general data between UltraTax CS and Onvio as well.
Sharing K1 financial data
The shared financial data includes most K1 input screen fields. Financial data is shared among all 1040, 1120, 1065, and 1041 clients. View examples.
Sharing K1 State if Different (SID) data
Most state if different (SID) K1 financial data is shared between the UltraTax CS state applications and the SID columns in the UltraTax CS federal applications. These SID columns in the 1040 and 1041 K1 input screens are used by the following state returns: AL, AR, CA, HI, IL, MA, MS, NJ, PA, or WI. View examples.
Sharing multiple-unit data
UltraTax CS will share data between multiple units within the same UltraTax CS client. View an example.
Sharing data with Accounting CS
Accounting CS will share general client data with UltraTax CS, and will share most W-2, 1099-R, 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, and 1095-C financial data with UltraTax/1040.
Sharing data with Onvio
If you are licensed for Onvio and have Onvio Link installed, UltraTax CS and Onvio can share general client data between the two applications. To do so, verify that you have the correct data locations specified in each application, then enable data sharing through the Settings screen in Onvio Link.
